Outdoor Entertaining Walbrandt-Style

There’s outdoor entertaining, and then there’s Aaron Walbrandt’s idea of outdoor entertaining. Judging from the most recent addition to his portfolio, we’ll opt for the latter, admittedly swayed by the 120” rear-projection screen overlooking the pool. St. Louis Photographer Alise O’Brien was in search of an outdoor space for an upcoming magazine feature, one that would embody al fresco luxury living at its finest. Walbrandt Technologies‘ work on one Ladue, MO backyard made her choice a simple one.

We snapped a few behind-the-scenes shots as they worked to capture this home’s outdoor hearth room and pool house.

Behind the Scenes: Walbrandt Technologies Photo Shoot

Walbrandt Technologies became involved at the start of the home’s construction, with a plan for whole-house automation that would integrate indoor and outdoor lighting, thermostats, a security system and motorized window treatments, as well as audio and video components. Each of these elements, including the pool lighting and ceiling fans, are controlled from an iPad via the Crestron Digital Media System.

When Walbrandt embarks on a project during its building phase, they’re not only taking into consideration the home’s current needs; they’re anticipating future additions and planning the home’s wiring in a manner that will ensure simple integrations and upgrades as new technology emerges.
