A Closer Look: The Home Office

If the hectic holiday season has you craving order and organization, perhaps the New Year is the time to reconsider your home office. A custom design accomplishes two objectives; allocating the appropriate space and storage solutions necessary and of course, doing so beautifully.

When household management is the primary function of a workspace, it is often located within or near the kitchen. Beyond the creation of adequate work space for the entire family, designing a space that blends seamlessly with existing furniture and cabinetry is key. To get started, consider the individuals that will utilize the space and the tasks performed. Menu planning? Bookshelves should be in the plan to keep cookbooks and binders within reach. Homework? Consider designated drawers for each child to keep their paperwork and supplies in order.

The same holds true for offices in separate rooms of the house. Cabinetry selected can take on a furniture-like feel as seen in the example at the top of this page. Also seen above is an example of the ultimate space for creative endeavors. The large work surface is ideal for crafting projects with more than ample storage in both base and wall cabinetry as well as beneath the island.

The design team at Beck/Allen Cabinetry has access to a wide variety of cabinet manufacturers, simplifying the process of finding a style and finish to coordinate or complement the surrounding furnishings and their experience will provide you with a variety of design solutions to consider.
