In Demand: The Freestanding Tub

Ask a member of the team at Premier Plumbing Studio about baths and they’ll tell you, without a doubt, the freestanding tub is in high demand. Like the ongoing fascination with the farmhouse sink, this classic style has homeowners hooked. We thought we’d dive in, so to speak, and deliver some helpful details should you be considering a new bath in the New Year.

Freestanding tubs from KOHLER are available in three materials ( Acrylic, Cast Iron and Lithocast).
Your sales associate can help decide which is best suited for your space.

Depending on the tub you choose, you will need a faucet or filler. These can come out of the wall or the ground. Or, if your tub has a deck/flat surface, it’s possible to use a Roman faucet. See more on this money-saving tip.

A range of options can add to the spa-like experience.

Kohler Sunstruck Freestanding Bathtub - Interior Design Center of St. Louis

Freestanding Tub | Money-Saving Tip

Showroom manager, Betsy Hayden shared a bit of practical advice. She noted that KOHLER’s Sunstruck® tub is one of their best-selling styles—so popular, in fact, that they keep it in stock. What often comes as a surprise to homeowners is the cost involved of a freestanding tub when you add the filler in addition to the labor involved to install it in the floor or wall.

“The Sunstruck® model offers a unique alternative. Its flat surface offers a place to install a Roman faucet. These can cost considerably less than a floor-mounted tub filler and saves on labor by installing directly into the tub versus the wall or floor.”

Designers, builders and homeowners, according to Betsy, also love the versatility of the Sunstruck® . Its simple, graceful curved design is suited for traditional to contemporary interiors.

Premier Plumbing Studio has nine baths on the showroom floor including three freestanding styles. Shop the showroom Monday through Friday or call 314.872.9339.
