Historic Renovation of Local Equestrian Club

Historic Renovation - JCR Design Group

St. Louis interior designers at JCR Design Group recently had the honor of remodeling the locker room and restroom of a nearby historic shooting and equestrian club. While it’s not unusual to begin a renovation by taking a structure down to the studs, taking it down to logs was a first for the team.

Equestrian Club Renovation

The original log cabin structure was believed to have been built in the 1820s. Once serving as a primary residence, in 1960 it was offered for sale and neighbors with an interest in preserving the home and its land joined together to purchase the property, and subsequently created the club. The building has been added on to several times throughout the years to accommodate changing needs and to preserve the integrity of the original log structure.

One of the club members had recently designed and built a custom home with JCR Design Group and it was this client who contacted Jenny when the Club was considering a renovation.

Their wish was for an updated space that still maintained the authentic rustic, traditional style present throughout the rest of the club, and provided a larger, more functional layout with increased capacity.

The result was a handsomely updated, masculine space with a mix of timeless elements: herringbone, stone, iron and wood, with a palette of varying tones of taupe.
